Pohara-Malkhed Forest Amravati

                        Pohara Forest Amravati

Pohara forest is the forest near Amravati District in Maharashtra (Vidarbha region). This forest is actually under the reign of Amravati Forest Department. This forest area also contains good number of flora and fauna. There is a cat family species existence in pohara that is Leopard. I am now residing in economical capital of Hindustan dats MUMBAI but really missing Nature capital(its my words ok) near my village  that is Pohara Forest and from my home town Amravati the nearest Tiger Reserve is Melghat Tiger Reserve.  Just like when you are hungry hard you can adjust your hunger with samosa and kachories also(If you are in Mumbai then its VADA PAAV) I was used to satisfy my hunger by tracking in Pohara Malkhed Forest area.
When I was in my collage for doing graduation in Arts, at that time I was in N.S.S. I want to make one thing clear here....No not clear its.... 'Crystal clear' yes that's the word Crystal clear that I am not follower of M.K.Gandhi, but I am follower of Netaji Shubhash Chandra Bose and Swatantyaveer Vinayak Damodar Sawarkar. So..... yes when i was in N.S.S. I attend one camp in Pohara forest and that was the first instance when I sighted Leopard in forest. After that I satrted my work for wildlife and Nature protection. I was very lucky to have Pohara about 10 km and Melghat about 65 km form my home town. I have tracked in Pohara numerous times and sighted Leopard, Neilgaay,Snake(Viper), wild boar, Deer, Chinkara Deer (I sighted them on the same day of leopard sighting).
I am always of this opinion that if you are a new comer and you have not experience of wildlife tracking then first choose to track in some limited area forest rather than any Tiger reserve directly. My brother Shubham always ask me "why don't you take me with you in Melghat when I told you that I am also interested in Wildlife Conservation and nature protection", guys if you are new then better to move small forest first, if you are new and tracking directly to Melghat or other tiger reserve then possibilities might be worst. If new comers are choosing big forest without tracking in small one then they must be accomplish by senior member or forest personnel, because if they have encounter with sloth bear then the personnel who is with him will also not take the proper judgement what to do.
The Tiger Reserves are school while the small forest like Pohara-Malkhed is Nursery. Amravati forest department organize census the interested peoples must join these census by this they can increase there knowledge about wildlife and Nature. The schools and Collages must arrange some educational tours or visits to forest so that next generation must aware about their birth source and the important aspects of wildlife and Nature. These tours must be arrange with the help of peoples who has good knowledge of wildlife and nature in the locality and with the help of forest officers also.
The Pohara-Malkhed Forest is rich source of knowledge about Wildlife and Nature with the specimen of wild animals, everybody must visit this forest.

                                          Adv. Tanmay Deo.
